Janet Faye Shoop

Janet Faye (Williams) Shoop passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, after spending the day surrounded by loved ones. She was 90 years old.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Janet will be remembered for her unselfish service to others, charitable efforts, community involvement, honesty, sincerity, generosity, devotion, and her ever-present smile.

Janet was born to Corda (Ellis) and Denver Williams on Tuesday, September 3, 1935, in Bentonville, Arkansas. Her early years were spent in Arkansas and Tulsa, Oklahoma, before she moved to Shoshoni, Wyoming, with her family in the 1940s There, she established her lifelong love of Wyoming.

Janet graduated from Shoshoni High School, where she met the love of her life, Lee Shoop. In 1954 the two married and began their nearly 72-year journey together. In 1961, they moved to Wheatland, Wyoming, with their three children to farm and ranch.

Janet steadily became a valuable part of the community as Junior Civic League president, an advocate for the March of Dimes, a 4-H leader, and an essential leader of Wheatland’s Job’s Daughters bethel. Also, at this time, she began her lifelong faith and service as a member of the First Christian Church in Wheatland.

In 1967, Janet began over 46 years of service with Platte County Memorial Hospital, where she was an administrative assistant, business office manager, and human resources director. She was known by countless employees as a knowledgeable, dependable, caring, positive, and trustworthy manager.

Through the 1970s and ‘80s, Janet advanced to the honored position of Job’s Daughters Wyoming Grand Guardian. In this role, she traveled throughout Wyoming to every local bethel extending her warmth, energy, and compassion. In that role, she loved her travel to national and international gatherings in far-flung places like New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, and locations across the United States and Canada.

While still maintaining her roles at the hospital, in 1996 Janet began her 14-year role on the board of directors for Western Vista Credit Union, making the monthly journey to Cheyenne and expanding her friendship circle. The organization acknowledged Janet’s vital role in helping the credit union grow and thrive. All the while, Janet and Lee maintained their connections to classmates and family at Shoshoni High School by attending the annual reunions.

At First Christian Church, Janet was a faithful attendee who taught Sunday school classes, helped with vacation bible school, prepared communions, housed visitors, and so much more. With Lee, she honored Platte County residents as they attended countless weddings, baptisms, and funeral services.

Finally, at the age of 79, she retired from hospital. In retirement, she traveled, was an avid reader, enjoyed friendships playing cards, ate lunch with friends, enjoyed the view of her flower garden, and continued her support of Wyoming Special Olympics that began as an important project during her time with Job’s Daughters. Over the years, Janet fondly remembered her trips with Lee to Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Devils Tower National Monument, Arches National Monument, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Mount Rushmore, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Badlands National Park, Banff National Park, Saskatchewan, Victoria, New Zealand, Australia, Seattle, Portland, Philadelphia, Branson, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Park City, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, California, Delaware, Alaska, Hawaii, Georgia, and Florida.

Janet continued making new friends after she and Lee moved to the Primrose Retirement Community in Cheyenne.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Lee; her children, April Addison; Marcelle Shoop (Kurt Repanshek); Flint Shoop (Kellie Chidester); her grandchildren, Justin Addison; Clinton Addison (Brannon); Jess Repanshek (Rae); Sean Repanshek (Tiara); a close-knit extended family; countless “adoptees,” and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Denver Williams; mother, Corda Close; sister, Joy Lavin; brother-in-law Marvin Shoop, sister-in-law Mary Shoop, nephew Hyde Shoop; and her son’s mother-in-law Karen Chidester.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, 95 Nineteenth Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201 with Pastor Casey Schroder officiating. Committal service to follow at Wheatland Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the church afterward.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many compassionate caregivers who brought comfort in Janet’s final years.
