Zelma Faye Mount McMullen ran into the arms of the Lord on January 19, 2026.
Zelma was born January 19, 1950, in Nampa, Idaho to Buck and Thelma Mount. A year later, the family moved to Bridgeport, Nebraska. She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1968 and began her nursing career by achieving her LPN.
On June 6, 1971, Zelma married the love of her life, Darrel McMullen. They welcomed four wonderful children Darrel, Wesley, Craig and Lacy.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing Science at the University of Wyoming in 1992, Zelma began working for Laramie County School District #1 with profoundly disabled children who she affectionately referred to as "her kids". As a caring and compassionate nurse, she dedicated her whole life to helping other families who dealt with the grief in losing a child.
In 2002 Zelma was honored as the Wyoming School Nurse of the Year and runner-up for National School Nurse of the Year. She served on two national nursing boards. Throughout her school nursing career, she worked at several doctor's offices. While working, she achieved a master's degree.
Zelma's greatest achievement was designing and building her beautiful home that was featured as the Civic League's Christmas House in 2001.
Shortly thereafter Zelma was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which she fought valiantly for 26 years, sustained by her faith through the years of decline. Her favorite quote was from Mother Theresa: "It is only imperfection that complains of what is imperfect. The more imperfect we are, the more gentle and quiet we become toward the defects of others." Zelma exemplified that way before she became disabled herself.
Zelma will be remembered by her loved ones for being a selfless mother, hardworking, caring, kind, and vibrant. Her friends greatly admired her endurance and humor in the face of continual losses.
Zelma is proceeded in death by her husband Darrel McMullen and her parents Morris "Buck" Mount and Thelma Mount.
Zelma is survived by her children: Darrel & Kim McMullen of Cheyenne Wy with their children Torie and Brady; Wesly & Shanna McMullen of Laramie Wy with their children Dylan and Tatum; Craig McMullen of Canyon City Co; Lacy McMullen & Kerry Krompel of Rock Springs Wy with their children Dalton and Zoey. She also leaves behind a sister, Twila Satchell, a brother Kenny Mount along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends who were enriched by her presence.
Zelma will be dearly missed. A celebration of Life will be held January 29th, 2026, at the Calvary Chapel, 9209 Ridge Rd Cheyenne Wy 82009 at 2pm.
