William (Bill) Lee Tennant, Jr., 76, of Cheyenne, was called Home at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, WY, on April 11, 2026, surrounded by his children. He was born on September 7, 1949, in Cheyenne, WY, to William and Donna Tennant. Bill graduated from Cheyenne Central High School in 1968. He then attended the University of Wyoming, stopping one class short of his Bachelor’s degree, to join the Cheyenne Police Department, where he faithfully served his community for 25 years. He then became the Risk Manager for the City of Cheyenne for 20 years, prior to his retirement in 2017. Bill married Sandy Hundley, and they had two children, Kimberly and David. He then married the love of his life, Karen Schemp, in 1983. They celebrated 40 years of marriage just before Karen’s passing in 2023. From this union came two children, Lyndsey and Rick.
Bill owned and operated a moving company with his dad, “Bill’s Moving and Delivery”. Bill was passionate about Harley-Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed riding with his father, brother Kenny, and later his son, Rick. Bill was a motorcycle police officer for many years. Riding in the CFD parades was one of his favorite memories. Bill was an avid sports fan, especially the University of Wyoming Cowboys, the Denver Broncos, and later the Buffalo Bills, as he was a huge Josh Allen fan. He enjoyed all things sports, especially coaching his kids' youth sports teams and later cheering them and his grandchildren on from the stands. He enjoyed movies and classic TV shows. Gunsmoke and Everybody Loves Raymond were his favorites. Being a grandpa was one of his greatest joys in life. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them to the park, and watching them play sports or their performances.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly Ganong (Ed), David Tennant, Lyndsey Smith (Landin), and Rick Tennant (Michelle); grandchildren, Logan Ganong, Chloe and Aubry Smith, Liam, Maddie, and Tali Tennant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
