William (Liam) Ryan Cox, 11 years old, was welcomed into the glory of God after tragically suffering a traumatic brain injury while riding his bicycle in Burns, Wyoming. He was airlifted to Denver, Colorado, where he died on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Liam was born in DeKalb, Illinois, on December 28, 2014. Full of life and energy, he always kept his family active. He loved fishing, biking, Pokémon, football, caring for his chickens, playing with his sisters, Harry Potter, video games, his cat Samson, swimming, and the thrill of roller coasters. He was an overall joyous, goofy kid.
Liam especially loved animals and knew everything about them. He could recognize even the most obscure creatures, spouting out facts which often amazed their caretakers. Once, while visiting a zoo, Liam came across a zookeeper giving an informational session about a bird. He ran up, stated that it was an elf owl, and rattled off facts about the world's smallest raptor.
Liam moved with his family from Illinois to South Dakota, where he developed a passion for the outdoors. Climbing mountains helped him see the beauty of this world, and Liam was eager to bring that beauty home by collecting thousands of rock samples. From South Dakota, the family moved to Kansas, where Liam was first introduced to raising chickens. After he moved to Wyoming, he thrived in school, developed a love for playing sports, and a passion for mountain biking. Wherever Liam was, he brought the light of Christ with him. He loved God, his family and friends, and his positive energy was contagious.
Liam was loved by all and is survived by his parents, Ryan and Kelsey, and his two sisters, Layla (13) and Samantha (6); his grandparents, Gary and Peggy Cox, and Steve and Michelle Wiora; his great-grandparents, John and Annette Olesen, and Diane McMahon-Bergan; his uncles and aunts, Brent Cox, Ashley Wiora, Jeff and Heather LaPorte, and Sr. Anne Elise, O.P.; and his cousins, Evelyn, Alana, and Lily LaPorte.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 13, from 12-4:00 p.m., with a Vigil for the Deceased at 5:00 p.m., both of which will take place at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Liam's Funeral Liturgy will be Wednesday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with burial and reception to follow.
