Velma L. Kreuzer passed away on September 17, 2025, surrounded by family. Born to Church and Maggie Firnekas in Buffalo, Wyoming, Velma was one of six siblings. Education and family were first and foremost to Velma. She studied at a number of universities, including Oxford and the University of Wyoming, where she graduated with a Masters in Special Education. Her career started by teaching in a one room schoolhouse, where among her students were her younger siblings. She also taught in Cheyenne and later oversaw the Special Education Department in the Administration Building. Velma was a wonderful teacher; even being asked to teach in Afghanistan, an experience of which she was extremely proud. She loved each student she taught. Velma married Conrad Kreuzer in 1977. She is survived by her granddaughter Anne Krospic (Brett McDaniel); honorary granddaughter Jill Vomacka (Kendall); great grandchildren Austin Barth, Chance Barth, Caydence Coker, Paisley Krospic, and Layne McDaniel; all of Burns; brothers Fred (Bev) Firnekas, Bruce (Betty) Firnekas and sister Nita (Kelly) Donathan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Tisdale; husband Conrad Kreuzer; brothers Chester Firnekas and Charles Firnekas. Velma loved her family dearly & was a constant presence in her granddaughter's & great grandchildren's activities. Velma will be missed by all.
