Thomas L. Logan, 90, of Cheyenne died February 23, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne.

He was born May 8, 1935 in Taladega, AL., the son of William and Esther (Stivender) Logan. Tom was preceded in death by one brother, William. He is survived by his wife Maxine; his daughter Kathleen (Shawn) Hehr, his son David, and two grand daughters Lauren (Josh) Gonzales and Lisa Ross.

While stationed at K.I. Sawyer AFB in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, he met and married Maxine. They were married for 62 years.

Tom graduated from high school in 1953 in Demopolis, AL. He was senior class president and valedictorian. He lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He entered the University of Alabama in 1953 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1958.

After college, he entered the U.S. Air Force as a 2nd lieutenant. He completed Navigator training in 1959. During his flying career he was an Instructor Navigator and a Standardization Evaluator. His best flying assignment was in the 903rd Air Refueling Squadron at Beale Air Force Base, CA. supporting the SR-71 Reconnaissance Aircraft. He helped devise and test the rendezvous procedure for the SR-71 and the KC-135. He also wrote the tactical doctrine procedures for the rendezvous. During the Vietnam War he was stationed at Korat Air Base in Thailand, where he accumulated 1,000 hours of combat time in the EC-121 aircraft. His last assignment was to the 44th Strategic Missile Wing in South Dakota, where he was the Deputy Commander of Operations. He retired in December 1981, after 24 years of active duty.

Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Tom became a teacher at Johnson Jr. High School, where he taught earth science for 11 years.

Tom was a member of the Gideons, the Air Force Association, MOAA, Daedalions, VFW and the Cheyenne E-Free Church. He also delivered for Meals on Wheels.

Funeral will be held at the Cheyenne E-Free church on Wednesday, March 4th at 11:00.

F.E. Warren will provide military honors by the 90th Missile Wing Honor Guard.
