Ted Hassinger Jr., 92, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the Davis Hospice Center surrounded by care and comfort.
Ted was born on July 16, 1933, in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, to Theodore “Happy” Hassinger and Florence Hassinger. Raised in the vibrant streets of New York, Ted often shared stories of his adventurous childhood, including one of his favorites — playing stickball with baseball legend Willie Mays.
Following an active childhood, Ted proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he made Cheyenne, Wyoming his home and began a long and respected career with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, where he served as Purchasing Manager for 37 years. Ted was known for his strong work ethic and attention to detail, and he also enjoyed working evenings preparing taxes for clients of H&R Block.
Following retirement, Ted embraced life’s simple joys. He loved reading, traveling, and watching sports, especially baseball. Family meant everything to him, and his grandson Hayden was truly the light of his life. Ted often said that his daughter-in-law, Stacie, and his step-daughter Becky were his angels, especially following the passing of his beloved wife, June.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, June Hassinger; step-sons Steve (Joann) Sencabaugh and David Sencabaugh; and his parents, Theodore and Florence Hassinger.
He is survived by his sister Dorothy (Dave) and nephew Richie; sons Wayne (Stacie) Hassinger and their son Hayden Hassinger, and Dan (Amy) Hassinger and his daughters Hannah and Wendi; and step-daughter Becky (Rudy) Nesvik.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes. Cremation has taken place.
