Tammy Lynn Williams, age 49, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones after a long fight with breast cancer.
Born on May 26, 1977, in North Platte, Nebraska, Tammy married Shawn Williams in 2001. After meeting her soulmate, she happily relocated from North Platte to Cheyenne, where they started a family and truly enjoyed life together. They raised three sons—Derrik, Daulton, and Donavon—and anyone who knew Tammy knew that if “her boys”(Shawn included) were involved, it was going to be a good time. She worked hard and played hard, always valuing her work ethic, family time, and the simple peace of mind that came from knowing life would be all right.
Tammy began her working life waiting tables and continued that work for a couple of years after moving to Cheyenne, where she loved interacting with people and making everyone smile. She soon found her dream career as a mail carrier in Laramie, Wyoming. Delivering mail became more than a job for her—it was a way of life she truly enjoyed. She formed lasting friendships with her coworkers and customers, many of whom became like extended family. While working her routes in Laramie. True to form, Tammy was known for getting her job done as quickly and efficiently as possible so she could return home to what mattered most—time with her husband, sons, and pets.
She always loved the outdoors and watching nature thrive. In 2021, Tammy and Shawn moved from the city to a place just outside of town, where she finally had the wide-open spaces she craved and could watch her trees grow and dogs run. When she wasn’t working, Tammy loved to travel and experience new places. Beaches held a special place in her heart—she delighted in the feeling of sand between her toes and watching the sunsets light up the water. It never mattered which beach it was, as long as she was surrounded by family. Even near the end, she was still planning her next vacation and looking forward to whatever it might offer.
Above all, Tammy cherished the small moments. Whether it was a brief conversation or an hour-long talk, she made time for people. She wanted to be a true spouse, mother, and friend—never a person of convenience—and she always wanted you to know you could come to her no matter what was going on.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Shawn Williams; her sons, Derrik (Catherine) Conard, Daulton Williams, and Donavon Gomez; and her beloved pets. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Karen Mathers.
In keeping with Tammy’s wishes, there will be no funeral. She never liked attending them and certainly never wanted to be the reason for one. Instead, the family invites anyone who wishes to honor her memory to plant a tree, go on a vacation, and most important, surround themselves with loved ones.
