Susanne Dee Sandidge

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan D. Sandige, a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this life peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones, on July 4, 2026. Born on August 31, 1943, in Fort Collins, Colorado, Susan was the beloved daughter of William and Phyllis Gray. Her journey on this earth was remarkable, filled with love, adventure, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who knew her.

Susan spent her early years in Fort Collins, where she graduated from Cache La Poudre High School. Her adventurous spirit led her to a career as a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines in the late 1990’s, where she not only explored the world but also brought joy and comfort to countless passengers. Her affinity for adventure was matched only by her deep passion for animals and horses, a love she carried throughout her life.

As an active member of the Cowgirls of the West in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Susan was not only a guardian of the Western spirit but also a vibrant contributor to preserving its history and culture. Her fervor for history, particularly Native American history, was a reflection of her curious mind and her respect for the rich tapestry of stories that shaped the land she loved.

Susan's kindness and spunky attitude were legendary among those who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a unique ability to leave a lasting impression, her laughter and stories resonating deeply with all whose lives she touched. Her family and friends will remember her as a guiding light, a source of warmth, and an inspiration for how to live life with gusto and grace.

Susan leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish her memory. She is survived by her children Heather (Ryan) Rooney, Heidi (Chad) Smith, and Mike Graves. Her legacy extends to her grandchildren Anthony Cook, Serena (Landon) Longwell, Jennaqua Cook, Tristan Rooney, Cade Smith, Kendall and Taos Smith and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit and values. Also mourning her loss is Susan's sister, Billie Anne, and her husband, Steve Jansky, will miss her dearly.

Though Susan has left this world, her spirit, kindness, and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return. She was truly a remarkable woman, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
