Sarah Margaret Kirk was born November 11, 1938, and went to be with Jesus her Savior August 30, 2025, at her home.
Sarah Margaret Henman was born November 11, 1938, in Guthrie Center, Iowa to Fred and Floa Eloise Henman. She was 9lbs 6oz and very sick with digestive issues. At age 5 her appendix ruptured, and peritonitis set in. An all-night prayer service was started on her behalf, and God answered the prayers to save her, but the damage was extensive and would be a challenge for her throughout her life.
Sarah’s mother introduced her to Jesus through prayer and singing and at the age of 5 in a little Mennonite Church in Harper KS, where she asked Jesus to be her Savior and Lord.
At the age of 7 she was baptized in a little Baptist Church, thus began her journey at a young age of serving the Lord.
Sarah met the love of her life Charles Kirk, as a teenager. After He served in the Navy for 4 years, they were united in marriage on Easter Sunday, April 21, 1957, in Torrington WY, and would live together for the next 68 years.
Sarah and Charles lived in Lingle, WY for a short time where Sarah gave birth to their son Bryan in 1958 in the Torrington Hospital. After moving to Cheyenne, their daughter Shareen was born in 1960.
Sarah was active serving the Lord, through music and kid’s programs. One year, she wrote the Christmas Program and directed it. Sarah enjoyed decorating the church for Christmas and weddings.
Sarah loved to bake and make pies for family on special occasions. She made homemade jams and jellies, a favorite to so many was her strawberry rhubarb jam. For a time, she made friendship bread for many families, friends and neighbors, all done with a big smile.
Sarah worked in various jobs throughout Cheyenne until her retirement from Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power Company in 1994.
After retirement, she was involved in the Forget Me Not Crafters Club. She painted team bulldogs for her family and snowmen for front porches. She loved canning, reading, word puzzles, and especially coloring pictures which can be found in care facilities here in Cheyenne.
When her health began to fail, she enjoyed listening to her favorite pastors on television church service on Sunday, especially her son in law and daughter’s church on Facebook (where she would often sing along during the music part of the service).
She enjoyed sports, especially the Denver Broncos, UW Cowboys and the Colorado Rockies.
Sarah was proceeded in death by her parents Fred and Floa Eloise Henman; brothers Bill Henman, Jim Henman and Ricky Henman; brother-in-law Dale Wickham and nephew Randy Lee Henman.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Kirk; sister, Edie Wickham of Torrington, WY; brothers, Fred (Lana) Henman of Las Cruces, NM, and Danny (Jane) Henman of Apache Junction, AZ; sister-in-law, Joan Henman of Loveland, CO; and brother-in-law, Roger (Gwen) Kirk of Stevensville, MT.
