Rosa E. Lujan

Rosa Eleanor Lujan, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was born on July 31, 1950, in Cheyenne, a community that remained at the heart of her life.

Rosa graduated from Central High School and went on to build a life marked by hard work, service, and deep devotion to others. Over the years, she wore many hats with pride and determination. She was co-owner of Nachita's Mexican Restaurant with her friend Nash at the original Fort Cheyenne. She also worked as a brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad, served as a bus driver for Laramie County School District 1, worked as a custodian for the Pappas & Pappas building, and sold Avon products. In each role, Rosa brought the same steady spirit and care that defined her life.

Her faith was a guiding force and a gift she shared generously with those around her. At St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rosa served as a Eucharistic Minister for daily and Sunday Masses and took the Eucharist to the homebound. She led the St. Therese the Little Flower Prayer Group and the St. Padre Pio Prayer Group at St. Joseph's, and she also volunteered at the parish food pantry. Her years of service reflected a life rooted in prayer, compassion, and love for her church community.

Rosa also served her country in the Air National Guard for 10 years as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Specialist. Her life was one of commitment. Commitment to her work, to her faith, to her community, and to the people she loved.

She will be remembered for her kind smile, selfless spirit, unrelenting faith, and compassion, qualities that touched so many lives and will remain with all who knew her.

Rosa is survived by her partner, ErLinda O. Varos, her partner of 46 years, whose shared life with Rosa was a lasting testament to love and devotion. She also leaves behind her faithful companion, Baylee Rose. Rosa is lovingly remembered by her sister, June Herrera and Ted; her nieces, Felisha, JoAnn and Will, and Valerie and Dustin; her nephew, LeRoy and Michele; her cousin, Christine and Gary; her sister-in-law, Pilar; the Parish family; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends who will carry her memory forward with affection and gratitude.

She was preceded in death by her father, Guillermo Tafoya; her mother, Estella Tafoya; her brother, George Lujan and Aleta; and her nephew, Daniel Barlow.

A Rosary will be held on September 27, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes, 1900 E 19th St, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001. Mass will be held on September 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 603 House Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82007.

Rosa's life was a blessing to her family, her parish, and her community. She gave of herself freely, loved deeply, and served faithfully. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered until all meet again.
