Rodney Walter Waln, 60, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 2, 2026. He was born on June 12, 1965, in Denver, Colorado, to Ronald and Ruth Waln. An only child, Rodney lived in several states, including Wyoming, New York, and South Dakota, before eventually settling back in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 2011, where he made his home. Growing up he was involved as a Boy Scout, enjoying campouts and canoeing, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Rodney had a deep passion for serving others. He worked as a volunteer firefighter in Pierre, SD, and spent many years driving over the road, professions he truly loved. He also worked as a security officer, a role he ultimately left following an on-the-job attack. In addition to his service-oriented work, Rodney was an amateur radio operator and held an Extra Class license, ARRL Life Member, and an Amsat Member.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Waln; his aunts, Sandy Bryant and Nancy Edelen; and his grandmother, Helen Folk. Rodney is survived by his uncle, Les Christian; his cousin, Iris Stolp, who lovingly assisted in his caregiving; and several other cousins.
Donations to help cover funeral expenses may be made to Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel Of The Chimes.
