Robert “Bob” Frantz, 89, passed on July 8, 2025. He was born to Dwight and Vava Frantz on November 24, 1935, in Grand Junction, Iowa. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1954. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force, soon after, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Koebele on July 16, 1955. He was stationed in Japan, Okinawa, and Taiwan. In 1970, Bob and Kathryn settled in Cheyenne and had four children. After retiring from the Air Force, Bob graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in accounting.
After a long career in carious business roles around the community, Bob retired. Bob and Kathryn spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona. They were active in the Polka Club and traveled to many polka festivals, including some in Germany and Hawaii. Bob loved playing and watching all kinds of sports and his favorite was pickleball. Once again, he and Kathryn traveled all over to play pickleball tournaments, including one in Canada. He was a member of the softball team at the Venture Out retirement community in Mesa.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathryn; two sons, Douglas (Dawn) Frantz and John (Sarah) Frantz; he leaves behind many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He also had several extended family members, including a sister, nieces, and nephews, still residing in Iowa.
Bob is proceeded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Frantz; daughter, Lisa Ware; brother, Richard Frantz; and sister, Karen Kersey.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held with a Funeral Liturgy on Wednesday, July 16, at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Father Carl Gallinger will officiate. A reception at the church will follow. Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School in Cheyenne.
