Rita J. Forbes

Rita J. Forbes passed away on October 28, 2026, at the age of 87. Rita was able to stay home until her passing, receiving care from Inhabit Hospice Care and caregivers Sandy (daughter), Megan and Lynnette.

Born on February 28, 1939, Rita lived a long life that will be remembered with love, respect, and gratitude by those who knew her. Her passing marks the close of a life that spanned many years and touched the hearts of family and friends. Rita loved the outdoors, and enjoyed gardening, hiking and camping. Rita also enjoyed bible study, carrying her purple bible and strong faith in God.

Rita is survived by her 3 children including 2 daughters Sandy Anton of Cheyenne, WY and Cyndy Forbes of Kearney, NE and 1 son Bud Forbes, of Tulsa, OK. Grandchildren Amber, Stephanie, Brittany and their families. 

She is preceded in death by her parents L.B. and Frances Sweet (Sappenfield), daughter Peggy Herren of Kearney, NE grand-daughter Felicia Renae Blevins and her ex-husband Rodney Forbes. 

A viewing will be held on November 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes, 1900 E 19th St, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001.

Rita will be remembered with affection and honor, and her memory will remain with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
