Raymond F. Vigil, 93, of Cheyenne went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 2, 2025, at Davis Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Raymond was born March 15, 1932, on the family ranch east of Wagon Mound, New Mexico. He married Georgia Sandoval on November 15, 1951.
His early life was that of a cowboy, riding horses, herding cattle, and branding livestock.
Raymond joined the Army at early age and served 20 years of service. He was a veteran who served his country in both the Korean and Vietnam wars receiving multiple service awards, accolades, and metals throughout his tenure.
After his military retirement, Raymond worked many places including but not limited to the State of Wyoming, Union Pacific Railroad, and Pepsi.
Raymond was a man of many talents and was both a certified welder and mechanic. He treasured time spent with family, bowling, fishing, dancing, playing cards, playing practical jokes on others, watching rodeo, and cheering for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Raymond is survived by his children Lorraine (Steve) Lucero, Raymond (Veronica) Vigil Jr., Jim (Karen) Vigil, Pauline (William) Griess, Anna (Jerry) Kelso, and Ronald (Ursula) Vigil; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia; parents Santiago and Epifania Vigil; 7 siblings; and 2 grandchildren Christi and Christopher Vigil.
To honor Raymond’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to a charity of their choice.
Cremation has taken place and he is reunited with his beloved wife, Georgia at the Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
