Peter Candiracci, Jr.

Peter Paul Candiracci Jr., 81, died August 16, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was born May 26, 1945, in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, to Peter and Mary (Rakowski) Candiracci and was raised in Sugar Notch, PA.

He attended Holy Family Parochial school in Sugar Notch, PA. He graduated in 1963 from Ashely-Sugar Notch High School, Ashley, PA. That same year he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at F.E. Warren A.F.B. in Cheyenne, Wyoming, after completing basic training at Lackland A.F.B. Texas and completed Tech School as a Missile Mechanic at Chanute A.F.B. Illinois. He retired from active duty 1 September 1983 as a Master Sergeant (E7) and remained in Cheyenne. He met his first wife Cheryl Ekstrom and married in July 1967 and raised three children. He met and married the girl of his dreams, Dixie Ann (Braun) Radcliffe March 26, 1998 and married March 25, 2004.

He had several occupations over the years. He retired after 20 years in the United States Air Force, worked in Civil Service at F.E. Warren A.F.B., worked as a supervisor at SafeCard Services (Trilegiant), and worked at Jeld-Wen Windows making bay windows, and finally worked part time at The Home Depot until retiring May 22, 2015.

He enjoyed hunting for many years and enjoyed camping and fishing with his second wife Dixie and his best friend Kin Hodges. He loved the Snowy Range and Saratoga, Wyoming. Peter also enjoyed working with and building desk top computers for his personal use.

He was preceded in death by his parents Peter Paul and Mary Regina (Rakowski) Candiracci; and sister Marie Candiracci, who died before he was born. He is survived by his wife Dixie (Braun) Candiracci; son Michael Candiracci of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Daughter Amy Candiracci of Greeneville, TN; son Peter Candiracci II also of Cheyenne; sister Geraldine Marie (Candiracci) Zionkowski of Mehoopany, PA.;  and brother Joseph Peter Candiracci of Scranton, PA.; eight grandchildren Dallen Candiracci of Cheyenne, WY, Nicholas, Michaela and Arianne Candiracci of Cheyenne, WY, Bradly, Morgan, Colton and Allysa Candiracci of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and one great granddaughter Rose Marie Dieter of North Dakota.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes on Monday September 14, 2026 at 3:00 pm, with a reception at the Gathering Place following the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheyenne Cancer Center or Cheyenne Animal Shelter, and/or T2T (Tunnel to Towers foundation).

Per Pete’s wishes, his ashes will be spread at a later date.
