Nevada “Neva” Moehr, 87, of Torrington, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in Cheyenne at Cottonwood Creek Memory Care Facility.
She was born on January 8, 1938, in Rock Springs, Wyoming to William “Howard” Porch and Dorothy Herman Porch.
Nevada attended schools in Mountain View, Wyoming, graduating in 1956. She also attained certifications from St. Mary of the Wasatch and Stevens Henage Business Schools following her graduation.
Nevada worked for Wasatch National Forest and Bridger Valley Electric Association.
On a very blizzardy December 28, 1973, in Evanston, WY, Nevada married James Lee Porch of Torrington.
Nevada and Jim settled outside of Torrington on a farm near Huntley where Nevada stayed at home and helped Jim on the farm. Together they worked on the farm until Jim’s passing in March of 1996. After Jim’s death Nevada stayed on the farm until 2010 when she moved to Torrington. She also did some travelling following Jim’s death. In February 2023, Nevada moved to Cheyenne with her close friend Cathy Lenz.
Nevada attended Mass every day and was very active volunteering in every way possible with St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church from 1997-2020.
Nevada is survived by her dear friend and caretaker Cathy Lenz, her St. Rose of Lima family in Torrington, her Cottonwood Creek family, Cornerstone Care family, both in Cheyenne and her sister-in-law Dalene Briggs of Scottsbluff along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and her parents Howard and Dorothy Porch.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Cheyenne followed by her inurnment in Olivet Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Torrington.
