Marydee Hartsook

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, great-grandmother, and friend, Marydee Hartsook. She peacefully passed away with loved ones in Spring, TX on the afternoon of Sept. 4th at the age of 85.

Born on October 9, 1940, in Canon City, Colorado, to parents Norman and Mary Ann Soden, Marydee lived a life filled with love, faith, family, and music. She was a generous, strong, and talented woman who touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Marydee lived in Canon City, CO for much of her childhood and moved to Yoncalla, OR for a short time. Her family later moved to Cheyenne, WY where she later graduated from high school, married Nick Hartsook, held several jobs in Cheyenne, and raised her two daughters. In later life, she was moved to Spring, TX to be near her daughters where she lived in a personal care home until death.

Throughout her life, Marydee found joy in music, painting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and traveling. She treasured time spent with her daughters, her extended family, and numerous friends. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne. Over the years, she had been employed with such places as Chaco, Fischbach & Moore working on the missile complex at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Hartsook Equipment & Pump Service, and the Wyoming Tribune Eagle. She was also an avid volunteer for the Girl Scouts of America, the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, accompanist for Highlands Presbyterian, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Her dedication was a constant example of her resilience and strength even after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her middle ages. She enjoyed the outdoors and traveling around the United States and Canada with her family in their RV.

Marydee will be remembered for her kind heart, sense of humor, strength, faith, and exceptional talent. She spread her love with those around her by sharing her talents and patiently teaching what she was so passionate about with others. Marydee was also a dedicated friend and remained in contact with many of her friends for much of her life. Her memory will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her two daughters, April Pease (spouse Christian), Christina Hart (spouse Doug), six grandchildren (Aaron Pease, Bradley Pease, Alyssa Hart-Ogden, Baylee Hart-Villarin, Delaney Hart, and Maximillian Hart), and 4 great grandchildren (Skylar, JJ, Melody, and Sylvee), all of Texas and Georgia. She is also survived by her brother, Norman Soden (spouse Cheryl), her sister-in-law, Lola Mae Brown, of Cheyenne, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Marydee was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mary Ann Soden, her husband, Nick Hartsook, her half-sister, Norma Wyatt, her in-laws, Opha and Bernice Hartsook, and her niece, Caroline Carver.

Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we are so grateful for the years we shared with her and the love she gave. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, and her legacy of love will continue through generations.

A memorial service for Marydee will be held on Oct.3, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne, WY at 9:00 am, graveside service at 10:00 am at Lakeside Cemetery, and a reception/luncheon following the burial at First Presbyterian Church at 10:45 am.
