MaryAnn Trujillo Cisneros, 81, entered eternal rest on September 20, 2025, at Davis Hospice Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 6, 1944, in Parkview, New Mexico, to Maria Eufemia Montoya and Jose Lauro Trujillo, MaryAnn’s life was a testament to steadfast faith, devotion to family, and quiet, daily acts of love.
A devoted mother and pillar of the South Cheyenne community, MaryAnn served generations of students with over 36 years of dedicated work. She began as a teacher’s aide at Hebard Elementary School and later became the librarian and lunch server at High School 3/Triumph High. Former students often shared that they crossed the graduation stage because she believed in them, encouraged them, and never let them give up.
MaryAnn lived her faith with warmth and devotion. A devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, she began each day in prayer, found joy in scripture, and extended a gracious welcome to everyone who came to her door. There was always an extra seat at her table and more often than not, fresh, warm homemade tortillas famous among family and neighbors alike. Sunday breakfasts after Mass became a cherished tradition, remembered not only for the meal but for the love, laughter, and hospitality that made everyone feel at home.
Hardworking and resourceful, she supported her family with side jobs such as selling tortillas and always found ways to provide for those she loved. She kept track of life’s milestones with a birthday book she lovingly maintained. In its pages, she kept a card for everyone in the family, no matter where they lived. Birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions were remembered and honored not just by pen and paper, but by the unfailing memory and devotion of a woman who believed every life was worth celebrating. She also taught her children the value of starting each day with intention. For MaryAnn, that began with making her bed, a simple act she practiced faithfully and encouraged in her children as a way to greet the day with discipline and gratitude. The daily crossword puzzle became one of her cherished routines, completed with the steady determination and focus she carried into every part of her life. She loved taking her grandkids to the library, cheering on every pursuit, and showing up for every moment that mattered. Independent yet tender, firm yet kind, MaryAnn modeled resilience, routine, and responsibility, values that live on in her children and grandchildren. Even in learning how to text, she found joy in keeping close to her family, carefully choosing the most fitting emojis to brighten their day.
MaryAnn is survived by her six children: Freddy Cisneros, Eddie Cisneros (Janette), Tim Cisneros (Lorie), Valerie Arias (Anthony), James Cisneros (Andrea), and Lisa Cisneros (Deanna). She is also survived by her siblings: Cleofas Grimshaw (Kenny), Leroy Trujillo (Rebecca), 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Jose, her brothers, Willie Trujillo, Jose Trujillo, Emeterio Trujillo, Rosa Trujillo, and sisters Bertha Howell, Angelina Martinez, Rosa Trujillo, and Linda Trujillo.
A Rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 100 W. 21st St., Cheyenne, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s, with burial immediately following at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 801 E. Pershing Blvd., Cheyenne. A reception will be held after the interment at the American Legion Post 6. Urn bearers will be her beloved Grandchildren.
In a life marked by faith, service, and unending love, MaryAnn’s greatest joy was her family. May perpetual light shine upon her, and may all who were blessed by her presence carry forward her legacy of prayer, perseverance, and welcome.
