Marty Larsen was born in Worland WY on July 18th 1957 . He is survived by his Wife Esther Wanjiru, his Daughter Joyce Larsen and 3 GrandChildren Rahma, Illias and Tamim. Growing up in Cheyenne he attended East High School graduating in 1975 then moving to Casper and attended Casper College where he completed an Associates in Coal Field Technology. He studied 2 years at UW and then changed direction to be a career Missionary. His first field was in Liberia W. Africa (1982) doing support work in Bible Translation with Lutheran Bible Translators at The Institute for Liberian Languages located in Sinkor, Monrovia Liberia. Returning in the 1990’s he completed a BS in Organizational Management from Colorado Christian University while serving with Cheyenne Evangelical Free Church. Marty returned to the mission field in 2004 working in Church and School planting, Teaching Theology & Bible classes as well as Computers and Electronics to Students from 13 International Counties across 6 Continents. Upon retirement he continued serving his Lord by assisting his international students Online and locally in 12 US States. Marty Volunteered at LifeChoice Pregnancy Care Center as a Male Client Advocate and as a Constituent Minister with Volunteers of America. He served as Camera Man and taught a Grow Group in his local congregation of Cheyenne Hills Church. He held numerous certifications (most notably) with Unit Rig (1978), Billy Graham School of Evangelism (1980), Bible Study Techniques (1994) First Respond-er (2005), several others and most recently Bright Course (Education for Pregnancy Clients).
Marty’s life was marked by unwavering faith, servant leadership and a deep love for people from all walks of life. He faithfully reflected the love of Christ through his actions and words. He was known for his kindness, wisdom, sense of humor and willingness to help others. Above all Marty loved the Lord , his family and sharing the gospel. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion and dedication that will continue to impact all who knew him. His family and friends will remember him as a devoted husband , father, grandfather, mentor and a friend whose life pointed others towards hope in Christ.
Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the assurance that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne Hills Church, with a reception to follow.
