Mariellen Sullivan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Mariellen was born on July 15, 1953, in Key West, Florida, to Frank and Joan Miles. She spent her childhood in Laramie, Wyoming, where she was raised alongside her sisters, Pat and Lisa. It was in Laramie that she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Sullivan, while he was attending the University of Wyoming. The two were married on May 6, 1972, beginning a journey together that spanned over five decades.
Together, Mariellen and Bob lived in various places including Portland, Oregon; Casper, Wyoming; Rapid City, South Dakota, Port St. Lucie, Florida; Loveland, Colorado; and Gig Harbor, Washington. They ultimately made their home in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where they spent over 30 years raising their two children, Jennifer and Robert, and building a life rich in love, faith, and community.
Mari, as she was lovingly known, was a devoted and compassionate woman whose faith in God shaped the way she saw the world and touched the lives of others. She found great joy in the company of family and friends and cherished the fellowship of her Bible study group. She had a quiet strength, always ready to listen, offer wise counsel, and provide comfort to anyone in need.
With a myriad of skills, Mari masterfully balanced running a household, raising a family and wearing several professional hats that ranged from personal executive assistant to real estate broker. She relished being a grandmother, reading books and having tea parties with her six grandchildren (which earned her the affectionate moniker, “TeaMa”). Professionally, it was her time spent serving as a Lay Counselor in Gig Harbor, Washington working alongside battered women and struggling families that brought her the most joy and fulfillment.
For the past 20 years, Mari lived with a debilitating nerve condition, yet she never let it dim her spirit. Her resilience, grace, and warm smile remained constant, a true testament to her courage and unwavering faith.
Mari’s final days were filled with love, reflection, and gratitude. Surrounded by those closest to her, she gave the greatest parting gift—time to share memories, laughter, and quiet moments that will always be treasured.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Joan Miles, and her sister Lisa. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; her sister, Pat; her children, Jennifer and Robert; and her six cherished grandchildren—Jackson, Vesper, Raleigh, Sloan, Flynn, and Payne.
A memorial service will be held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on August 1, 2025 at 1 PM. All who knew and loved Mari are welcome to attend and celebrate a life well lived. In honor of Mariellen please feel free to wear pale pink to the service. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes you to donate to Davis Hospice.
