Lloyd Wiseman Osborn

Lloyd Wiseman Osborn, known to many as “Shine”, was born October 4, 1933 in Alliance, Nebraska. He died in Cheyenne, Wyoming on July 31, 2026 at age 92.

Lloyd’s parents, Lloyd L. and Mildred C. Osborn lived in several towns in Nebraska, starting in Lakeside. His brother Thomas William Osborn was born before the family moved to Cheyenne Wyoming in about 1941. Their middle brother, Nicholas Wiseman, later joined the family. The family settled in Orchard Valley, south of Cheyenne.

Lloyd married his high school girlfriend, Janet Claire Osborn, on February 26, 1953. At the time of his death, they had been married 73 years. They raised four daughters, Katherine Doris (Kay), Linda Sue, Jeanne Marie, and Merri Lynn.

Lloyd demonstrated love by taking his family hunting, backpacking, fishing, and on road trips. He taught the girls to care for many animals,such as a donkey, horses, cows, chickens, pigs, goats, ducks, dogs, and cats. Some girls learned to garden with him.

Lloyd worked in a variety of jobs during his life, including ranch hand, soldier, turkey farmer (with his brother and dad) oil rig worker, lather, electrician, business agent for his union and for the Wyoming Building and Trades Association, State of Wyoming OSHA investigator, electrical inspector, electrical code inspector, church sexton and proud Army Veteran He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 415 for 69 years. He found many lifelong friends during all of these life adventures.

For a frugal man, he was generous with his time and friendships. He donated blood until he was 90, giving a total of 33 gallons. He delivered Meals on Wheels for more than 50 years. He volunteered at Rossman Elementary School, finding lifelong friends with the Ferman Family, parents Hugo, Rocio and their children Alex Ferman, Hugo Ferman, Brisa Ferman.

Lloyd had a gift of storytelling that stayed with him until his last days at Davis Hospice House. As he traveled with Janet and his daughters on their Annual Migration in Wyoming; he remembered the geography of the land, the historical sites, and the people he knew there. He tailored each story to the audience, wondering about how and why the story impacted each.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Janet Osborn, brother Nick (Carla) and daughters Kay Flores, Linda Heyne, Jeanne Keslar, and Merri Burkett and an acquired daughter, Mary Mauderer He is also survived by grandchildren, including: Lloyd Flores (Stephanie), Tim Flores, Phil Flores (Kari), Ethan Heyne (Laurie), Elise King , David Keslar, Danial Keslar, Travis Burkett (Tuesday), and Spencer Burkett (Cassidy). Acquired grandchildren include Dante and Brenda Griffin and many other people who called him Grandpa. Great-grandchildren include Nigel Flores, Jo Flores, Ari Mapps, Rowan Kolar, Asa Mapps, Echo Heyne, Ember Heyne, Erin Heyne, Esther Heyne, Kade O”Halloran Gray King and Mercury Burkett. Acquired great grandchildren Isaiah and Bethany Griffin.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church at 2602 Deming Boulevard in Cheyenne, Wyoming, across from the Cheyenne VA Medical Center.

Lloyd would have wanted you to be comfortable at his memorial service. You are invited to wear plaid, suspenders, rainbows, Meals on Wheels shirts, union shirts, or something that makes you think of him. Due to allergies, the family requests no flowers

Lloyd liked food, and a light luncheon will be served in the church parish hall after the service. Stay and continue the storytelling tradition!
