Karen Lynn Schlund Hoegren, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Born on April 28, 1945, in Hinsdale, Illinois, Karen brought joy and warmth to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Karen's life was filled with passion and creativity, evident in her many hobbies and interests. She had a remarkable talent for cooking and baking, oh man she could cook the best chicken and noodles. She cherished sewing and was known for her beautifully crafted quilts, each stitch made with love. A true connoisseur of enjoyment, Karen found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was sipping margaritas or savoring enchiladas. The wind in her hair, the roar of the engine, and the open road - there's no better way to describe Grandma's love for riding her Harley.
But what truly defined Karen was her profound love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and she dedicated herself to being a nurturing presence in their lives. Her legacy lives on through them, as they carry forward the love and warmth she so generously shared.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Farmer, of Texas, and her cherished grandchildren: Josh and Tara Cramer of Wyoming, Bridget Cramer and Tobias Davis of Florida, Audie and Nicholas Farmer of Texas. In addition, she leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren: Jeremiah Cramer, Jaice Cramer, Niome Farmer, Mia Farmer, Ranaia Farmer, Blaine Farmer, Archie Farmer, and Frey Farmer, who will all remember her loving spirit and the special moments they shared. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Lawarence Albert Hoegren and Ester Melita (Brews) Hoegren; daughter, Polly Lynn Schlund; grandson, Michael Farmer, and several brothers and sisters. Their memories remain a source of comfort for those she has left behind. As we remember Karen, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and creativity. Her spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of her family and in the memories they hold dear.
As Karen wished, no public services will be held. The family will gather privately at a later date to spread her ashes.
