Joyce Sylvia Mowery

On July 13,2026 our lovely Joyce S. Mowery has passed after months of health issues.

Joyce was born on September 18, 1946, to Betty Kimsey and Barney Grandpre. Joyce is the oldest of 8 children. She was born here in Cheyenne, Wyoming, a true native of the state. She attended and graduated from East High School. Her summer after graduation she got the opportunity to go and work in Yellowstone, which she remembered with great fondness.

In May 1969, Joyce married Richard Mowery. During that time, she welcomed their son Richard “Scott” Mowery.

Years after the passing of her husband, Joyce found love again and reconnected with Jay Murry. In these last years she was extremely happy and spent as much time as she could with her new love. Jay made Joyce very happy.

Joyce loved living in Wyoming and, with a warm spirit, shared her love of the outdoors and history with those around her. For many years, she worked as a parts delivery person and a florist.

She had many hobbies and a deep love of reading. Joyce also had an incredible affection for Christmas - She collected Santas and decorated her home with them each holiday season. Joyce’s favorite flower is the sunflower, and she was truly a ray of sunshine to everyone she met, always making sure others knew how she felt.

Her love had no limits, and she is dearly loved by her family.

Joyce is survived by her brothers and sisters: Janice & Lee Perry, Jerry & Cindy Grandpre, Sharon Granpre, Jeff Grandpre, Joe Grandpre & Liz Merritt, Jason & Jeremy Grandpre, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce’s reunion with family who have been waiting for her are husband, Rich Mowery; son Christopher Mowery; her grandson, DJ Mowery; her parents Betty and Barney Grandpre; her brother Jim Grandpre; and Jack Grandpre.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the American Legion Hall from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
