Listen to Obituary

John Henry Wooley, 74, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died at Davis Hospice in Cheyenne on March 3, 2026.

John was born in Silver Creek, New York, in 1952 to Albert Larane Wooley and Geraldine Elizabeth Chesbro. He attended Silver Creek High School.

John loved riding his motorcycle and taking adventures on the open road. He thoroughly enjoyed capturing memories through photography. He enjoyed WWE wrestling and was often told he looked like his favorite wrestler, Hulk Hogan. He fiercely loved his family and was an amazing grandfather and great granduncle. While John inherited the nickname "mean papa/uncle John," he was only tough on the outside. Those close to him enjoyed his sense of humor and prankster tendencies.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Knarr Wooley, his mother, Geraldine, and father, Albert. He is survived by his sisters Margie Brown (Husband Ralph Brown (deceased)), Jackie Howden (Husband William), and Alberta Padden (Husband Michael); his children John Kessler, Star Jones (Husband Ian), Jessica Momerak (Husband Brian), and Justin Sanders (Wife Mya). His grandchildren are Emerald Jones, Alex Momerak, Noah Momerak, McKinley Jones, Brinley Jones, Kobyn Kessler, and Silas Sanders. His great nephew, Kyle Brown and great niece, Lizzy Brown. His great-grandnieces, Elizabeth Kessler, Briar Kessler, and Paizley Barclay, and nephews, Eldon Kessler and Mason Kessler.

His nephews Brady Kessler (wife Kristen), John C. Brown (wife Sabra), Vincent Howden (wife Cindy), Monty Howden (wife Angie), Michael Howden, Glenn Howden, Shane Padden (wife Lee), and niece Laurie Hillson (husband John). His grandnephews Kolebe Kessler (wife Lindsey), Caleb Kessler (fiancee Natalya Blair), and grandniece Hunter Barclay (husband Caleb Barclay)
