Listen to Obituary

John Marvin Vestman, of Cheyenne, WY, passed at Aspen Wind Memory Care Facility on August 30, 2026. He was born on September 18, 1935, in Great Falls, MT.

John attended high school in Big Fork, Montana and spent two years in college before joining the US Army in 1956 where he went through radar electronics school and eventually taught guided missile classes in Huntsville, Alabama. He left the army in 1959. Over his lifetime, he worked as a supervisor/manager for many companies, including Martin Marietta, IBM, Atlantic Richfield, Walmart, and even spent a little time working for the Denver Broncos as a security guard!

John took great pleasure in helping the community and serving others. He founded a Cub Scout Pack in Loveland, CO. He volunteered with Solo Sertoma, Lutheran Hospice, Colorado Shares, and other organizations. He very much enjoyed being the fire chief of the Winter Park (Colorado) Volunteer Fire Department while he lived there.

God was important to John. Even though he didn’t attend church very often, he talked to God daily. In John’s words, “Our God is a loving God and a forgiving God, he is always with us. Rejoice, be happy, for I have gone to be with our God and Jesus. I am a Christian!”

John is survived by Ramona Vestman, and his children – Lee Vestman, John W. Vestman, Terri Starck (Vestman), and Ron Vestman, and their families.

John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
