John Daniel Christiansen, born on February 3, 1936, in Clinton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He lived a full life, marked by dedication to his family, career, and passions.
John graduated from Clinton High School in 1955, laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth. Following his high school graduation, he achieved another milestone by obtaining his Barber's License from Cedar Rapids Barber College. He barbered with his Step-dad for several years at the Christiansen Barber Shop before going to DuPont. He also was a maintenance worker for the town of Low Moor Iowa and also Clinton Municipal airport from 1957 to 1964. John worked as a maintenance worker at Dupont in Clinton, Iowa, from 1963 to 1981, before relocating to Wheatland, Wyoming, where he served as a mechanic and welder at Laramie River Power Station until his retirement in 1998.
On March 10, 1957, John married Jeanette Goldensoph, and together they created a loving family, raising five children who would carry on his legacy. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing the time spent with those he loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette Goldensoph Christiansen; children Mark Christiansen and his wife Margaret of Fresno, CA; Mitch Christiansen and his wife Lorina of Cheyenne, WY; Murray Christiansen and his wife Karen of Tucson, AZ; Michelle Herman and her husband Russell of Cheyenne, WY; he is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody Thies and wife Rikki, Nicole Krieger and husband Klint, Breanna Mallo, Joseph Christiansen and wife Nicole, Anna Jess and husband Tyler, Cheyenne Vander Waal, Kelsey Christiansen, Kyle Christiansen, Corinne Christiansen, as well as his great grandchildren, Averi and Asher Thies, Brody, Brynlee, Brooklyn, Elaina Mallo, Kenneth, Kirkland, Kierlyn Krieger, Wyatt Hicks, Ariella Christiansen-Perkins, Taylor Kania, Rowen and Briar Bliven, Tucker, Cash, Louis and Magnolia Christiansen, Siena and Rocky Jess, Scarlett Vander Waal, Saige Lawson and Oliver Christiansen.
In his personal life, John had a multitude of interests that brought him great joy. He was passionate about woodworking, hunting, and, notably, flying, pursuits that kept his adventurous spirit alive. John touched the lives of many with his warmth and humbleness.
John's journey will be honored and celebrated during a Celebration of Life service held at North Christian Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on August 8, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM. Pallbearers for this service will include Cody A. Thies, Joe Christiansen, Kyle Christiansen, Tyler Jess, and Klint Krieger, who will carry his memory forward in a meaningful way.
John was preceded in death by his father Ralph Christiansen, mother Laura Christiansen, and son Michael Christiansen. He is also mourned by his grandson Andrew Christiansen, great-grandson Wesson Christiansen, sister Carol Kay, and his dear friend, Merlin Johnson, who was like a brother to him.
As we remember John Daniel Christiansen, we honor a man who dedicated his life to his work, his adventures, and most importantly, to his family. His memories will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
