Listen to Obituary

Janet Sharon Knittle, daughter of Albert and Irene Knittle, was born June 18, 1947, and departed to Heaven on July 12, 2026.

Janet was the older sister to Carol. She grew up an attended public school in Cheyenne, Wyoming and graduated from Central High School in 1965.

Janet loved dogs!!! She would go to state fair for work and come home with a puppy!!

Janet was very talented. She played the piano and organ at church. She also directed several children's programs and skits at the First Assembly of God Church in Cheyenne. She had beautiful costumes made for the productions. She LOVED Jesus!!

Janet was a perfectionist. Her work papers and multiple collections of Hallmark Christmas ornaments and special keepsakes were always organized in multiple containers and drawers.

Janet's first job was at Steve Sibley's Collection Agency. Later, Jan worked for the State of Wyoming in the Agriculture Department and the Wyoming State Archives Museum and Fiscal Services and for Secretary of State, Thyra Thompson. She retired from the State Parks and Cultural Resources Department. Jan worked 30 years total for the State of Wyoming.

Janet, also, worked five years at Baskin-Robbins, decorating and making ice cream cakes and desserts as well as managing the teenagers who worked there. What a job!

Janet was preceded in death by her grandmother, Leah Bukowski; her mother, Irene; her father, Albert; and many other beloved relatives and friends. She is survived by her sister, Carol Tafoya; her nephew, Jason Tafoya; her niece, Krista (Jeremy) Cotton; and her great-nephews, Brayden, Parker, and Beckett Cotton.

Per Janet's request, she didn't want a "typical" funeral but "the grass part only". Interment will be at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens on Friday July 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
