Janet Lorraine Forgey passed away at her home on January 1, 2026. Although Janet was a warrior, battling multiple health challenges, her passing was unexpected. Her family rejoices that she now finds eternal comfort and peace. Jan was born to Thomas and Phyllis Forgey, in Igloo, South Dakota on September 28, 1956. In 1966, her family made Cheyenne their home. Jan was intelligent and had a keen interest in science and medicine. She pursued an education in nursing and obtained an LPN designation from the first graduating class at LCCC. Jan enjoyed travel and her fondest memories were attending the Olympics and Disneyland. Jan worked in several areas of the local hospital and especially enjoyed her work in the obstetrics unit. She spent time as a traveling nurse and ended her career after working several years at Cheyenne OBGYN. As a survivor of breast cancer she was an advocate for breast cancer awareness. Jan was a dedicated fan of the Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Broncos. At a young age, Jan was fascinated with man’s first moon walk and forever was a NASA enthusiast, her excitement palpable during every NASA launch. Jan’s intellect made her a natural historian of which she most collected and retained information on the Kennedy legacy. Jan stayed informed on current events and politics and was always a logical humanitarian. She was kind and helpful to family members, co-workers, friends and neighbors. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Phyllis and two brother in laws, Larry Wager and Jack Selby and one nephew, Morgan Selby. She is survived by four siblings, Thomas Forgey, Carol Wager, Becky Selby and Laura Bowen (Joe Harmon) and five nieces and nephews, Kylee Brandt (Jessie), Robert Bowen (Iantha) and Billie Ellis (John), Shane Wager and Shannon Myers (Josh), as well as a great niece, Havilah and great nephews, Donovan and Jude. Janet also leaves behind her precious fur babies, Tiki and Baby.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at the Laramie County Senior Center, in the old building, with parking on Cox Court, on January 17th, at 2:00 p.m
