James Edward Nace lovingly known as Jim, passed away on November 28,2025, at the age of 88 in Cheyenne, WY. He was born on September 23, 1937, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Jim grew up in Cheyenne and graduated from Cheyenne Central High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served four years. When he returned to Cheyenne, he entered training to be a machinist at the Union Pacific Railroad, and he worked there for many years.
Jim was known for his patient and kind personality, always willing to take the time to sit down and talk, sharing stories with those who gathered around him. His hobbies included mechanical work, which he enjoyed thoroughly, reflecting his hands-on nature and love for problem-solving. Above all, Jim cherished his time with his wife, Maxine Nace (Layton), emphasizing the importance of love and partnership throughout their life together.
A viewing will be held on December 4, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel, located at 1900 E 19th St, Cheyenne, WY, followed by a funeral service and military honors from 10:00 AM. Jim will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery, with burial taking place at 11:30 AM that same day.
Jim's legacy will be marked by his kindness and love for his family and friends. He will be missed.
