Isabel Emma Fabian

February 17, 1925 — August 4, 2024

Isabel Emma Rizzi Fabian was born on February 17, 1925, in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Natalia (Nellie) Tate and Joseph Rizzi. She was the last of four children, Valentine, Violet, and Mary. Isabel spent her formative years in Superior, Wyoming where her Italian born father found employment with the UP-coal mines. In high school Isabel was an outgoing and thoughtful person, a trait she carried throughout her lifetime. She was on the cheerleading team, and attended the second annual Wyoming Girls State, and was chosen to serve as Governor.

Isabel and Thomas Fabian had known each other their entire lives. They were married at the Davis Monthan AFB Chapel in Tucson, AZ on June 1, 1945. Thomas was stationed there in anticipation of picking up his B29 Bomber which he flew to Okinawa, Japan one week after their wedding.

After the war and time in Rock Springs, she and Thomas moved to Cheyenne with their sons, Brent, and Joe. Isabel was proud to have worked outside the home for several years, but she was best known for being a devoted wife and mother. She was an amazing cook serving delicious Italian meals to her family. Everyone wanted her secret salad dressing recipe. Her kitchen became fondly known as Grandma’s Restaurant. As her sons grew, Isabel traveled the country with Thomas to all his of various job sites with General Electric.

Isabel was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and all but one cousin, William. Her beloved son Joe predeceased her in 2018, and Thomas, her husband of seventy-four years, in 2019. She is survived by her son Brent (Susan), daughter-in-law Linda, grandchildren Kim, Matt, Leah, David, Sara, and Travis. Eight great grandchildren, Samantha, Kadin, Corey, Heather, Isabelle, Honor, Grayson, Jane, and Kylie; and two great-grandchildren, Paisley, and Lillian. Along with several beloved nieces and nephews.

Services and interment will be later this summer in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
