Helen Jeanette Underwood, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 20, 1937, in Burns, Wyoming, she was the daughter of Leonard and Helen McDonald. Jeanette's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit, nurturing heart, and the profound kindness she extended to everyone she encountered.
Jeanette dedicated a significant portion of her life to her career as an X-Ray Technician, serving with compassion and professionalism from 1957 until 1963. After a successful tenure in healthcare, she continued her service to the community by working with Laramie County School District #1 from 1979 to 1995, where she touched the lives of countless children and their families.
Above all, Jeanette was a devoted matriarch to her family. She is survived by her beloved sons, John (Amy) Underwood and Stephen (Jo) Underwood, and her daughters, MaryAnn Everett (Bob), Patricia (John) Graves. Her warmth and enthusiasm were a guiding light for her grandchildren: Ashley, Jacob, Jeremy, Nathan (Lindsay), Dalton (Emily), Emily, and Tristin, and great-grandchildren, Davis Jean, Huxton, Everly, Brenlee, Wrenna, who will forever cherish the memories of laughter, love, and wisdom she bestowed upon them. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, with whom she shared countless moments of joy.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Underwood, who was her partner in life and love, and whose memory she held dear throughout her years. Her parents, Leonard and Helen McDonald, and sisters, Kathy Stegman and Susan McDonald.
Visitation will be held on April 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel, followed by a Vigil for the Deceased at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy in her honor will be on April 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
As we remember Jeanette, let us carry forward her legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for family and friends. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
