Gregory Ryan Tveter

Gregory Ryan Tveter (Greg), age 72, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026 at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center.

Greg was born on June 6, 1954 in Maddock, North Dakota, to Forrest Tveter and Fern Ambers.

Greg proudly served in The United States Army from 1972-1974. During his time in the service, Greg met his very best friend, Frank Aldridge in 1972. Frank and Greg shared many adventures and memories throughout their years of friendship and loved to reminisce up until Greg’s passing. They shared these memories with their beloved brothers. “They are the best friends that a man could have- Frank, John Rybarczyk (Gums), and Cork leg.”

Greg married the love of his life, Nelly C. Balmedina on February 28, 1984 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Greg fell madly in love with Nelly the moment he saw her. Together they shared 42 lovely years of marriage and built a life filled with love, family, adventure, and countless memories. Greg and Nelly share a daughter, Shana and have three other beloved children Kathleen (Kathy), Stanley (Stan), and Nancy. Greg was a proud grandfather to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joseph (Joe), Levi, Eli, Aubri, Mila, Alyssa, Emma, Izabel (Izzy), Asen, Gage, Alex, Trevor, Malik, Adrian, Myles, Grayson, Aleyna, Oaklee.

Greg was a devoted and loving husband, the BEST father, and wonderful and dedicated grandfather. He loved to take the family fishing, camping, and on any adventure he could. Greg was a hardworking man and a jack of all trades. He loved to share his wisdom with anyone that was willing to listen. If something was broken, he could fix it. If you needed a part or extra supply, he had it. Greg spent some of his early years as a mechanic, worked in carpentry, electrical, and primarily in plumbing/ plumbing and wholesale. Greg had a sense of humor that could rarely be matched. He loved to crack jokes that sometimes only he would understand until moments after the fact. He absolutely loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, a GREAT one at that, and hunter.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Nelly Tveter; daughter, Shana Yoder (Lucas); grandsons, Levi Sweeney and Eli Sweeney; granddaughter, Aubri Sweeney; son, Stanley McFarland Jr.; daughters, Kathleen Ojile (Greg) and Nancy Fletcher (Brian); grandsons, Joseph Cisneros (Megan), Asen Mihaylov, Alex Fletcher, Gage Ojile, Trevor Fletcher; granddaughters, Mila Fletcher, Alyssa Fletcher, Izabel McFarland, Emma McFarland.

The family of Gregory R. Tveter wishes to extend our sincere gratitude and love to the dedicated team at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center. Thank you to the Home-Based Primary Care Team, Prosthetics, Podiatry, Pharmacy, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Chaplain Services, and most importantly the ENTIRE medical team on CWARD who cared for him during his last days with us. Your compassion, love, and high quality of care meant the world. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my father. You all know who you are specifically. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Military Honors will be held at the Cheyenne National Cemetery on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 11:00 am.
