Glenn Allen Shaffer, 77, of Cheyenne died at his home on February 17, 2026. Glenn was born in Cheyenne on February 21, 1948, to Aubrey and Betty (Bagley) Shaffer.
After graduating from Cheyenne Central High School in 1966, Glenn went to the University of Wyoming where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. He started his career in the fiscal office at the Wyoming Game and Fish and eventually moved to the Wyoming Treasurer’s Office. There, he served as the Deputy State Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer until his retirement in 2002. He also proudly served for twenty years with the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Glenn married the love of his life, Francene Hagedorn, in 1973, and they had two daughters, Darcy and Cori. He enjoyed watching his daughters’ musical and theatrical performances and was fiercely proud and protective of his girls. As much as he loved his wife and daughters, Glenn really hit his stride as a grandpa. He adored all his grandchildren and attended every competition or performance so he could see them shine. In between events, he could be found making his grandkids laugh or just having fun with them. He wanted nothing more than to see his children and grandchildren succeed and be happy.
Glenn loved singing and had a beautiful baritone voice. He sang barbershop with the Wyoming Aires chorus as well as with a barbershop quartet. He also shared his love of performing and music through the Cheyenne Little Theater, where his favorite productions included The Music Man and The Sound of Music. His favorite role by far, though, was as Santa Claus in Miracle on 34th Street.
Glenn also loved golfing and could be found on the course early in the morning almost every morning that the weather would allow it. And if you had the time, he could tell you exactly how his game had gone on every hole that day!
A lover of all God’s furry creatures, Glenn showered attention on all dogs and cats that crossed his path. He also made sure that all the bunnies and squirrels around him were well fed.
Glenn’s family will miss his humor, his bear hugs, his voice in the singing of Happy Birthday, and his unflagging love and support in all things.
Glenn is survived by his wife Fran, his daughter Darcy Guille (Kevin), his daughter Cori Cooper (Chris), his grandchildren Liam Guille (Jessie Klein), Paige Guille-Levy (Cannan), Brynley Guille, Elliot Guille, and Cadence Cooper, and his sister-in-law Carlene Anselmi.
He was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Betty Shaffer and his granddaughters Cassidy Cooper and Ruby Guille. We are confident that their welcome for him on the other side was pure joy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheyenne Little Theater Players.
