Gayle Langmo, 100, of Cheyenne, passed away July 8th. She was born August 17, 1924, in Pocatello, Idaho. She moved to Cheyenne in 1994 to be present in her granddaughter’s life after previous residences in Salt Lake City, Utah; Los Angeles, California; and Corvallis, Oregon. Gayle married her husband, Donald Langmo, on the longest night of the year - December 21, 1948, in Compton, California. Gayle spent the majority of her life as a homemaker. However, this solitary type of lifestyle does not cater to the sociable personality for which Gayle was known and adored. Thus, she was involved in many community and national organizations and volunteer activities. The involvement she most enjoyed was her presence in, and service to, her churches, Good Samaritan in Corvallis, Oregon, and St. Mark's Episcopal Church here in Cheyenne. During her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. They took many trips together, preferring to take them by train and cruise ships if possible. Remaining true to her love for social interactions, she also loved learning about and experiencing other cultures and exploring new perceptions. As a result, Gayle had an exceptionally eclectic range of friendships. She will be missed by a great many people who were fortunate enough to experience her gracious heart, warm smile, and conversation. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Earl Sell; her mother, Vera Gertude Sell; her husband, Donald Langmo; and her three siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Lynn Langmo, and her granddaughter, Chelsea-Victoria Fraser Turner. Services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 2 pm. Gayle dearly loved her husband, with whom she shared a belief in the power of education. She also deeply believed in her faith. As she progressed in her years, she also progressed in her love of birds. Her favorite bird was the Cedar Waxwing. This is why, in remembrance of Gayle, gifts would be appreciated to be made in the form of donations to the Donald and Gayle Langmo Scholarship fund at LCCC, 1400 E. College Dr., Cheyenne, WY, 82007; St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1908 Central Ave. Cheyenne, Wy, 82001; or the High-Plains Audubon Society, PO Box 2502, Cheyenne, Wy, 82003.
