Gary Mark Himmelberg

Gary M. Himmelberg of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away on May 2, 2026 at the age of 82.

He was born on November 20, 1943, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Mark and Leona (Reining) Himmelberg. On February 4, 1964.Gary attended Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from Lawrence Public High School in 1962. He married the love of his life, Phyllis (Ostdiek) Himmelberg, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and uncle. He worked as an electric lineman for 43 years before retiring in 2004. He had a passion for NASCAR, both watching and attending races, and he greatly enjoyed traveling with his wife. After retirement, Gary and Phyllis purchased a motor home and spent their winters traveling to warmer destinations.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Cheyenne; two sons, Dean Himmelberg (Debbie Elder) of Skiatook, Oklahoma, and Doug (Stephanie) Himmelberg of Fort Collins, Colorado; and his cherished granddaughter, Brooklyn Himmelberg of Fort Collins. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Don Schutte of Kearney, Nebraska and Adrian Mazour of Norfolk, Nebraska; sister-in-law Mary Schutte of Lawrence, Nebraska; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Connie Mazour; and his sister-in-law, Karen Schutte.

Cremation has taken place. A service will be held on Thursday, May 7, at 3:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
