Elvin Lue Steward, 83, died on October 23, 2026. Born on December 19, 1942, he lived a life marked by strong loyalties, vivid stories, and a spirit that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Glendo was home to Elvin, and so much of what he loved grew out of that place and the life he built around it. He found joy in the open air and in motion—in RVs, snow mobiles, motorcycles, fishing, boating, and 4-wheeling. He loved the Broncos and the Wyoming Cowboys, and when the game was on, he expected the world to know it. He was a storyteller by nature, the kind of man whose presence could fill a room, and whose tales and memories were shared with unmistakable personality.

Elvin served in the Air Force, a chapter of his life that stood among the experiences that shaped his character. He was also proud to serve as president of The Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union, a role that reflected both his strength and his commitment. Among his proudest accomplishments were his band, his family, and his union leadership. Music was not just an interest to him—he was a rockstar in his own right, and literally had a band called “The Kountdowns.”

He was remembered as a family man, even as those closest to him lovingly described him as a grump, a crotchety old man with a style all his own. He loved hard, lived boldly, and carried a rough-edged charm that made him unforgettable. He was known for beating people up and getting into bar fights, a reflection of a fierce and unvarnished streak that was simply part of who he was. Through it all, he remained deeply himself—colorful, stubborn, spirited, and impossible to ignore.

Those who carry his memory forward include his daughter Brenda, her husband Mark, their children Michael and Alyssa and their families, his daughter Faith and Faith’s daughter Melissa; his son Sonny and his family; and his grand-daughter Kylie. Also remembered with affection is his beloved dog, Sadie, who was part of the household and part of the love that surrounded him.

Elvin was preceded in death by his wives, Ruth and Elaine and daughter Wendy.

He leaves behind a memory that is lively and unmistakable: a man of music, motion, stories, grit, and family. He will be remembered in the roar of a motorcycle, in the pull of the water, in the excitement of game day, and in the stories retold by those who knew him best.

The family asks you to join a celebration of life that will be announced at a later date.
