Edward L. Anderson, 91, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away June 14, 2025.
Born in Cambridge, Nebraska, to Clarence and Alma Anderson, Ed was the youngest boy in a large and loving family of nine boys and one girl. At the age of two, his family moved to a farm in Veteran, Wyoming, during the heart of the Great Depression. Life on the farm shaped Ed’s strong work ethic and deep appreciation for family and perseverance.
During World War II, eight of Ed's brothers courageously served their country. Following in their footsteps, Ed enlisted in the United States Army after graduating high school and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Ed continued his service by joining the Wyoming Army National Guard, serving in several positions before retiring as a Master Sergeant.
After completing his active military service, Ed attended Colorado State College where he played football and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He went on to have a distinguished career with the State of Wyoming, retiring as the Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Agriculture.
Ed was the proud father of four children. In 1976, he married the love of his life, Loretta, and together they blended their families to create a joyful home filled with nine children. In 1990, after all the children were grown, Ed and Loretta relocated to Arizona, where they embraced retirement with enthusiasm and joy—especially after winning the Arizona lottery. They traveled extensively, enjoying many adventures together.
Ed was a dedicated community member, serving for many years on the Board of Directors for Sun City. He and Loretta enjoyed bowling, golfing, and frequent visits to Las Vegas. Above all, Ed cherished his growing family, leaving behind 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of strength, kindness, and humor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; a son, Devin Anderson; a daughter, Cyndra Anderson; and three granddaughters.
He is survived by Debi Anderson (Cheyenne); Buddy (Donna) Anderson Gothenburg, NE; Jacquie Crader (Cheyenne); Mike (Tammy) Crader (Erie, CO); Denise Kauffman (Chicago); Scott Crader (Bozeman, MT) and Mark Crader (Dallas, TX).
Services will be Friday, June 27th, 2:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Ed by spending time with loved ones or sharing a story that brings a smile—just as Ed so often did.
