Doris Franklin

January 22, 1945 — February 3, 2024

Mother Doris Franklin, 79, transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday February 3, 2024, in Cheyenne.
Doris, the second of five children, was born in Doyle, Texas on January 22, 1945, to the late Nokomis and Ethelene Jackson. In 1960, the family moved to Midland, Texas where they united at Antioch Baptist Church. At a young age Doris publicly accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was actively involved in the youth ministry and other church auxiliaries. Doris graduated from Carver Junior-Senior High School in 1962 and later attended a business school in San Antonio, TX.
Doris met and married the love of her life, Charlie Franklin on July 15, 1973, in Midland, Texas. They relocated to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1974 with their son Marvin. Doris was employed by the General Motors Acceptance Corporation for nineteen years and then retired to work at Dillard’s for over eleven years. She united with the Second Baptist Church of Cheyenne and in her later years united with Holy Temple Church of God in Christ where she was a faithful servant and the mother of her church.
Doris was a strong faithful Woman of God who loved the Lord. Her passion for the word was evident in her life, what she said, how she did things, and her strong belief that God will always see you through. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me.” (John 14:1)
Doris had a spirit of giving and blessed everyone that had the privilege of knowing her. She enjoyed sending cards and gifts to her family, friends and church community. She was well known for sending two-dollar bills with a card. The bill, albeit small, was a keepsake to remember that she cared greatly for you.
With Doris living far away from her Texas roots, her family always looked forward to her visits with great anticipation. She loved traveling home yearly to Texas to attend the Jackson family reunion to which she donated many nice gifts that garnered the appreciation and excitement of family members. She was sweet and encouraging and generous in sharing with others. Even as she struggled with illness, in her last years, she was always trying to give to and encourage others.
She is survived by her loving husband Charlie Franklin of Cheyenne, Wyoming, her sister Joann Green of Harker Heights, Texas, sisters- in-law Carolyn Jackson of Bryan, Texas and Doris Jackson of Fort Worth, Texas, grandchildren Alexis and Maya Jackson of Cheyenne, Wyoming and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Nokomis Sr. and Ethelene Jackson, brothers Nokomis “Butch” and Milton “Chub” Jackson, sister Barbara Mack, son Marvin Jackson, and brother-in-law Robert Green.
