Diane Caroline Mordahl

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Diane Caroline Mordahl. She passed away at the Davis Hospice Center on August 16, 2026, with family and her friend Susan at her side. Born Diane Sevanovich in Rock Springs, WY on December 9, 1946, she always had a love for music. Growing up in Rock Springs, she played piano, sang in the choir, and participated in the Stars of Tomorrow. The Beatles held a special place in her heart. She was one of about 7,000 people who saw them play at Red Rocks in 1964 - the only stop that didn’t sell out during their first tour. Fittingly, one of her favorite songs, Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles, was playing as she passed.

In the 60’s, she studied to become a music teacher at the University of Northern Colorado (at the time called the State Normal School of Colorado). But after college, she turned in a different direction and devoted herself to the family business of M&B Drilling. She worked at M&B until moving to Laramie County Community College in 1985, where she worked before retiring after nearly 30 years of service.

In most of her adult life, Diane faced significant health challenges, including her nearly 50-year battle with MS. Despite her physical limitations, her personality remained very much her own. She was always a Raiders fan. She could always beat us at Jeopardy. She was a single mother who would work multiple jobs to help raise her sons. She was a wonderful grandmother that loved any chance to see or talk to her grandkids. And she fought the crippling disease to her final moments with loved ones holding her hands.

She is preceded in passing by her parents, Daniel and Olga (Bertagnolli) Sevanovich, and her brother, Danny Sevanovich. She is survived by her sister, Deborah (Eddie); sons, Justin (Margaret) and Jesse (Carly); her seven grandchildren, Gianna, Galena, Madix, Hunter, Bailey, Avery, and Gage; niece and nephew, Erin (Wade) and Zach; former spouse, Wayne; and her lifelong friends, Miriam, Kathryn, Sonya and Thomas.

At Diane's request, there will be no memorial services. Her family will honor her life privately, in keeping with her wishes. The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff that helped her during her fight with MS, and the Davis Hospice Center for the warm surroundings during such a dark time. Please send any donations to the National MS Society or participate in the annual Walk MS event to continue the hunt for a cure to the unforgiving disease. We forever remember you, Diane.
