Diane Rachel DeMello-Payne, affectionately known as Mémé by all she loved and cared for, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was born on January 12, 1942, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and lived a life characterized by her deep love for family and friends.
Mémé was the cherished wife of Virgil Payne and a devoted mother to her five sons and one daughter: Michelle and Bobby Kinohi, Edward and Teresa DeMello, Gary DeMello, Jarrett and Lori DeMello and Ronald and Shari DeMello. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and delighted to have 12 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Diane was predeceased by her beloved son David DeMello, along with her parents, Norman Sabourin and Rose Sabourin. Her legacy continues through her loving family, who will carry forward her spirit of kindness and care.
A Mass in celebration of Diane's life will be held at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on January 12, 2026. The service will commence at 10:00 AM.
As we honor her memory, we remember a woman who embraced life with warmth and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched. Her presence will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered.
