Dewayne Fagenbush (78), a cherished lifelong resident of Cheyenne passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 15th in his home. He leaves behind a legacy of love as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Dewayne was a hard worker throughout the entirety of his life and modeled that in every way possible for his family. He enlisted in the Army in 1966 and was an active member of the Army National Guard for 6 years. Shortly after returning home from basic training, he joined the Union Pacific Railroad in 1967. Through his career he served many roles, one of his proudest being President of the local Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers before retiring in 2010. In those 43 years he made lifelong friends that became family while raising his own family along the way.In his later years he mentioned often that his fondest moments were raising his boys and traveling with his grand kids. A true family man, Dewayne had a passion for sports and cars, but above all his greatest love was always his family. He was loyal, kind-hearted, and loved conversation, which he was one of the best at. His absence will be profoundly missed.Dewayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Fagenbush, their two sons Chris and Dewayne, their wives Leslie and Sheelin, his grandchildren Braden, Braxten, Makenzee, and Irelin, and great granddaughter Jaylin. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Hazel and George Fagenbush, his uncle Wayne, his sister Pat and his daughter Shelly.There will be a Memorial Service to honor Dewayne on January 30th at 2 p.m. at CrossBridge Alliance Church, 3501 Forest Dr. and a reception to follow
