Denise Carol Miller

Denise C. Miller, 65, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on July 12, 2026 after a 4.5 year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Denise was born on July 24, 1960, in Sterling, Colorado to Loyd Honebein and Bernita (Honebein) Way. She graduated from Gurley highschool in Nebraska in 1978 and attended Dana college for 2 years, studying to be a special education teacher. During her school years, she enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading.

Denise married her husband Gene Miller on November 27th, 1982. They lived in Chappell Nebraska where they welcomed 3 beautiful children; Amanda, Dustin and Jacob. During her time in Chappell, she co-owned a donut shop from 1980 to 1989, worked at a cafe, and when the donut shop closed, she worked as a secretary at the feedlot. The family then moved to Cheyenne in 1996.

Denise worked at Sierra Trading Post in their call center from 1996 to 2008. She then went to work for Allstate as a claims specialist until she retired in 2024. She enjoyed working part time jobs as a waitress for Parry’s Steakhouse, A&B Cafe, and Crossroads Cafe. Meeting and talking to new people was always a joy of hers. Everywhere she worked, she brought her caring personality and ability to connect with people.

Outside of work, she was a member of the Cheyenne Sunrise Lions Club and especially loved driving the train for their events. During the summer, she enjoyed camping and looked forward to watching the Thunderbirds whenever they came to town. She also participated in bowling leagues and softball teams. Her love for sports didn’t stop there. She was a devoted fan of her Rockies, Avalanche, Broncos, Nuggets, Wyoming Cowboys, and Nebraska Huskers. She also loved supporting her kids in their activities.

During her cancer journey, Denise received one of life's greatest blessings; the chance to meet and love her “little man”, her grandson Anthony. He brought her tremendous happiness and gave her strength in some of her most difficult days.

Denise had a heart that made room for everyone. She was lovingly known as “mom” to many of her children's friends throughout her life. She welcomed people with open arms, loved deeply, and was always willing to help anyone she could. Her kindness, strength, and generosity touched more lives than she probably ever realized. Even going through her cancer treatments, she still made time to care for others in any way she could.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Miller; father Loyd; stepfathers, Merlin Boehmer and Clayton Way; nephews, Brandon and James Miller; brothers-in-law, Keith Miller and Bruce Miller; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Spring and Cheryl Miller, as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.

Denise is survived by her children, Amanda Miller (Manuel Cabrera); Dustin Miller; and Jacob Miller all of Cheyenne; Grandson, Anthony Cabrera; Mother, Bernita of Lodgepole, Nebraska; sisters, Sandy (Brad) Franks of Lodgepole, Nebraska, and Colleen (Gene) Koster of Rockport, Texas; brother, Doug (Cindy) Honebein of Littleton, Colorado; bonus grandchildren, Ayden Comeaux of Louisiana, Aidan Cabrera, and Elizabeth Cabrera of Cheyenne; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.

Denise truly was a “Cheerleader For All”.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 am at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. A reception will be held at The Gathering Place immediately following the service.
