David "Jim" James Roby

November 29, 1941 — October 13, 2023

My brother, David James Roby, passed away in the early morning of October 13, after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on November 29, 1941 in Sterling, Kansas. He was born to James Wesley and Estelle Madeline Roby.
Due to long term medical illness of his mother and the loss of his father, he was raised by a loving family, Milo C. and Ethel G. Adams. David worked at the Boulder Sanitarium for several years before moving to the East coast where he attended Chef/Bakers Schooling in Boson Massachusetts.
Growing up years were spent on his uncle’s farm where he was a self-taught mechanic. He used that to help others with his mechanical ability. He had a self-employed flooring business that he did on his days off and after work. He married Alta Lackey June 11, 1961, and was married for 62 years. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife Alta, two sons Randy and Tracy Roby, and sister, Margaret Olson of Lincoln, Nebraska, three Nieces Alethea Torbert, Marlene Shafer, and Deborah Cooley, one Granddaughter Tina Whitty and numerous other nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents and will be missed by his host of friends.
There will be a memorial service at Seventh-day Adventist Church 723 Storey Blvd, Cheyenne, WY 82009, on Sunday October 22, 2023 at 2:00pm. Interment will take place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens 4701 Christensen Rd. on Monday October 23, 2023 at 9:00am.
