Chet Lee Atkins

Cheston “Chet” Lee Atkins, 60, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, left this world on May 25, 2026.

Chet was born on July 2, 1965, in Laramie, Wyoming, to John A. Atkins Jr. and Gaylene R. White. Growing up, he and his sister, Jana, shared a love for wrestling that was passed down from their father. Chet wrestled throughout his school years and graduated from Valley High School in Gilcrest, Colorado, in 1984.

While living in Colorado, Chet met his first love, Denice Dillon. Denice brought her son, Garrett, into the family, and together they welcomed two daughters, Shelby and Haley.

Later in life, Chet met his second love, Jill. Together they spent two decades building a life together, bringing Chet back to Wyoming where he proudly sported his Wyoming Cowboys gear every chance he got.

Chet was a cowboy and blue-collar man through and through. He could lend a hand with nearly any job or project, from ranch work to oil rigs. Keeping his hands busy and working hard were simply part of who he was.

Chet was preceded in death by his mother, Gaylene White-Phillips, and his father, John Atkins. He is survived by his sister, Jana Atkins-Reynolds; his daughters, Shelby (Taylor) Russell and Haley (Mark) Viau; his step-son, Garrett (Josie) Goggin; his niece, Shawn (Glen) Chape; his grandchildren, Monte Goggin, Bohannon Goggin, and Laney Viau and his grandnephew Kyle Chape.

A memorial service for Chet will be held on June 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes, 1900 E. 19th St., Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001. A reception will be held at VFW Post 1881, 2816 E 7th St., Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001 following the service.
