Listen to Obituary

Cherie Davidson Eaton was born June 11, 1982, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at DePaul Hospital. She was raised east of Cheyenne and attended Dildine Elementary School, Carey Junior High School, and East High School.

During her school years, Cherie was a baton twirler and played both flute and piccolo in the Carey and East High School bands. She was also a member of the East High School flag team.

After graduating from high school, Cherie attended the University of Wyoming for one year. Throughout her life, she continued her education by taking a variety of classes at Laramie County Community College whenever her health permitted. Cherie was naturally curious and enjoyed learning about whatever happened to capture her interest.

Cherie married Nathan James Eaton, and the couple lived in Bremerton, Washington, for approximately 10 years while Nathan served in the Navy. They later returned to Cheyenne and divorced in 2006. Nathan preceded her in death in 2024.

Throughout her life, Cherie held a wide variety of jobs in both Cheyenne and Washington. She worked as a cashier, sales clerk, display person, and manager of the Fashion Bar Junior Department. More recently, she worked for Home Depot in Cheyenne, where, like at many of her workplaces, she received numerous awards and recognition for a job well done.

Cherie had a deep love for animals. Cats and dogs held a special place in her heart, but her affection extended to wildlife of all kinds. She also enjoyed keeping her hands busy with creative projects, including cross-stitch, embroidery, and other crafts that filled her home with color and reflected the care she put into the things she created.

Those who knew Cherie also knew her generous spirit. She was someone who noticed when another person needed help and was willing to do something about it. Her kindness was not something she simply talked about; it was something she practiced.

Cherie is survived by her mother, Amy L. Davidson of Ten Sleep, Wyoming; her brother, Cody B. Davidson of Cheyenne; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and stepfamily throughout Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Davidson; her grandparents, David and Anna Leuer and Frank and Emma Davidson; and Nathan Eaton.

One of Cherie’s act of kindness was during the Christmas Season in Cheyenne.
We went to the Christmas Parade in Cheyenne, that night was bitter cold. We were dressed in our best cold weather clothes. After the parade, we went to St Mary’s Church for a Chili supper. While we were there an older man walked in wearing a Suit Coat, shirt, pants and low cut shoes but no socks. Cherie stopped eating her meal and started taking off her snow boots and 2 pairs of winter socks. Put her boots back on and walked over to the man and gave him her warm socks and a big hug wishing him a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. She was always willing to help anyone and hoped that they would pass it on.

Cherie will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, love of animals, willingness to help others, and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her.
