Carolyn Kay Smith (Rose), age 83, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026.

Born in Cheyenne on June 30, 1943, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Russell and Dorothy Rose. She grew up in Cheyenne and was proud to be a member of the very first graduating class of East High School in 1961. During her high school years, she brought joy and energy to the community as a talented majorette, and she later shared close bonds of friendship as a member of the Delta chapter sorority.

Carolyn spent the majority of her career working for the State of Wyoming, eventually retiring from the Game and Fish Department. Following her retirement, she continued to stay active in the workforce and went to work for the Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local 192.

Carolyn loved the outdoors and found great joy in nature. She was happiest when she was camping and boating with her loved ones, creating beautiful memories at both Glendo and Guernsey reservoirs.

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald Smith; her two sons, Steven Baillie (Wendi) and Michael Baillie (Kim); and four cherished grandchildren: Justin (Erianna), Madisyn, Drew, and Addison. She is also survived by her brother, Russell “Uncle Bud” Rose; her brother‑in‑law, Everette Ayers; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents as well as her beloved sister, Donna Ayers.

At Carolyn's request, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carolyn’s memory to the Davis Hospice Center, honoring the care and comfort they provide to families in the community.
