Services for Bettyanne will be held at the Chugwater Cemtery, located 3 miles east of Chugwater, Wyoming, on Sat. June 14. She was born at DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Bettyanne passed away at home with her husband, Russell Matz by her side. She was the fourth child born to Dudley Mead Haines and Antonie Marie Zavorka-Haines. She is survived by her husband Russell, son Dion Johnson, brother David (Carmen) Haines, and sisters Marie (Stan) Haines-Schirmer and Patricia Haines. Preceding her in death were her mother Antonie and stepfather John Donbraska, stepfather Ernest Wilkins, brothers Douglas and Dudley and sister Beverly (Harvey) Shonts. Bettyanne is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In 1958, Her mother married a rancher, Ernest Wilkins and the family moved to his ranch above Lone Tree Canyon in an area known as Iowa Center in Platte County. Bettyanne always liked horses, so she loved the ranch where she had several to ride. She also loved ranch work and learned to break and train horses and even work cattle and do various field work.
She graduated from Chugwater High School in 1964. Prior to high school she attended the Iowa Center School and also Torrington Elementary School. Bettyanne was well liked and she was extremely popular with everyone. She was a cheerleader in Junior High and High School and during her Senior year, Bettyanne was Homecoming Queen.
After graduation, she attended Barnes Business School in Denver, Colorado. In 1965 she married John Johnson. To this union a son was born, Dion Johnson. John and Bettyanne eventually divorced. She lived in Cheyenne for a few years before moving to Torrington.
In 2015 she moved to Carpenter and in 2018 she married Russell Matz. The two had known each other in high school. This began a new chapter in her life, and she was thrilled to again get back to country living with her beloved husband, flower gardens and various pets. Bettyanne loved Gods creation and she certainly will be missed by all who loved her.
