Barbara E. Cruz

On a Monday morning, after the sun had just risen and while the birds sang outside of her open window, Barbara Emily Cruz, 70, took her final breath and peacefully left this world.

Barbara was born on December 8, 1955, in Redding, California, to Nora and Joe Zamora. One of five children, she lived a life that was anything but ordinary—one marked by both moments of joy and moments of hardship, by choices that shaped not only her own path but also the lives of those around her.

Not a moment in Barbara’s life was ever dull, making for an existence that was incredibly full—rich with stories and abundant in lasting life lessons. Like all of us, she was imperfect—a woman whose story cannot be simply told.

As her earthly journey comes to an end, may those who loved her, struggled with her, or simply knew her find peace in remembering that every life is woven with both light and shadow. In the end, we honor not perfection, but humanity.

Barbara leaves behind her only son William (Jamey) of Cheyenne; daughters Miranda (Alfred) of California, and Brandy (Scott) of Kentucky; five grandchildren—Aundrea, Adam, Matthew, Leila, and Lettie; sisters Joann and Shirley (Ernie); brother Michael; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jeannette.

A private memorial will be held for close family at a later date.
