B. Virginia Sleesman, born July 31, 1940, passed away on May 6, 2026. Virginia was a woman whose kindness, faith, and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Virginia loved her family more than anything, especially her beloved husband, Robert Sleesman. She had the most contagious laugh, the kind that could fill a room and make everyone around her laugh. She was endlessly loving and selfless, always doing everything she could for anyone who needed her. No matter the situation, she showed up with open arms, comforting words, and unwavering support.
Virginia traveled the world alongside her husband during his service in the United States Air Force. During that time, she worked as the general’s secretary and held the highest security clearance, a reflection of the trust, intelligence, and professionalism she carried throughout her life. After settling back in Cheyenne, Wyoming, she continued her lifelong passion for helping others through her work with Social Security until her retirement. She found great purpose in serving people and making a difference in their lives every day.
Her faith was one of the most important parts of her life and guided the way she cared for others. She was known for singing little songs, giving the best hugs, and offering advice that made people feel safe, understood, and loved. Her life reflected grace, compassion, and a genuine love for others that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Virginia is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Sleesman; her children, Lora Mayfield and Grant Sleesman; her grandchildren, Amber Powell, Angela Thole, Amanda Sleesman, Mackenzie Sleesman, Peyton Sleesman, and Hallie Sleesman; along with several great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Beautus Shockley; her brothers, Steve Shockley and Roy Shockley; and her nephew, Michael Shockley, whose memories remained close to her heart.
Those who knew Virginia will remember her for her warm spirit, unwavering faith, contagious laughter, and the kindness she showed to everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and selflessness that will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be 23 May 2026 @ 1:00pm at 3507 Thomas Rd, Cheyenne WY
Virginia will be deeply missed and forever loved.
